Migrating Field Groups from Features in Drupal 7 to Drupal 9

I am in the midst of a Drupal 7 to Drupal 9 upgrade for a client. This is the first time I am using the Migrate Drupal and Migrate Drupal UI core modules to do an inline upgrade. So far everything has been great. I just need to drop in a data migration path for some Paragraphs and recreate a couple Views and we should be good.

However, when I was checking around on some content, I noticed I had no field groups in the new site. Why? Field Groups comes with a Field Groups Migrate submodule, which will pick up and migrate any field groups in a Drupal 7 site to Drupal 8 or 9.

A critical bug came in saying that donut charts in visualizations were now showing the wrong numbers and that this was a top priority since it was visible to the public.

Media Migration Tip in Drupal

If you’re doing a migration of media files, you most likely will be working with a list of URLs. Other times, you will have a local file system from which to pull in media. When working with just a list of
URLs though, you’re somewhat working with a ‘blind’ import.

Imported content may reference images or files as anchor or image tags, but you really don’t know if they exist or not. If you are migrating a large site, there is a very good chance there are some forgotten pages
in the system that makes use of file URLs that have been long deleted.

If you’re lucky, it’s a system like Drupal that has an excellent Migration
framework. I’ve migrated lots of sites from the small to the very large, such as this one with 1 million+ records, over a decades worth.

This post will be applicable to you if you develop within a Vagrant virtual environment in OSX/Linux. If not, or you are a Windows user,
it may not be much help! But if you're curious anyway, read on.

The Initiation
Why you came.

Alright. This is it. You’re here because you’ve heard of this mysterious ‘Behat’ while searching for best practices in
testing Drupal.

Spiff up your Drupal AJAX interactions.

Every time I see the throbber.gif appear it pains me, because with some simple changes, we can make the feel of it so much better.

Y U NO LIKE POOR LITTLE GIF?

It’s not the image used, don’t get me wrong. The default UX of displaying AJAX activity just blows. Depending on wherever the form field
or element is that is leveraging an AJAX callback, the activity gif can appear anywhere in the page. The only thing it looks like is a small
spinner image simply appears for no reason then goes away.
